From Dr. K’s Perspective...

What percentage of Americans will live to a ripe old age and go to their graves with all of their organs? First, let’s think about this. All animals in the wild will die with their organs intact. Or it might be their organs become diseased, and cause their death... prematurely. Our pets are getting super duper veterinarian care these days, so there’s a good percentage of our own pets that are not going to their graves with all of their organs intact either!

Then, there are the complicating factors of human beings and organ donations... voluntary or involuntary! If you live in China, and find yourself incarcerated, you might have your organs volunteered FOR you! So, the question... what percentage of Americans will live to a ripe old age (not many) and go to their graves with all of their organs intact? Hmmm... If you’re thinking less than 50%, you’re on the right track... less than 25%... you’re getting warmer....

Less than 5% of all Americans who end up in their graves, end up there fully intact for one reason or another. But the most important question begs to be asked... what about the person in need of an organ donation? What are the circumstances involved? Especially when examining the lifestyle choices made throughout their life. Are they totally innocent; is there any culpability or responsibility relating to their desperate need? Something to think about... go to your grave intact? Hope so... but I don’t think so....
